We hold 3 hugely popular Food and Craft Markets a year, a Spring Market on the last Saturday in April, a Summer Market on the last Saturday in August and our Christmas Market on the last Saturday in November.
We held our first Market in the Spring of 2010 with only 25 stalls, these have grown each time to our Markets now having over 80 stalls full of locally produced Foods and Crafts and in 2012 we won the NABMA Best Small Speciality Market in the UK.
If it’s food you’re looking for, then we have locally made cheeses, bread made by local bakers, meat from local farmers and a great selection of cakes and sweets. Jams and chutneys made from locally sourced fruits or delicious pork pies from a local pig farmer to a delicious chocolate fountain.
In case you feel hungry during your visit we have a wide variety of street food, from a pakistani street buffet to a hog roast or Mongolian stir-fry to Pie and Peas, there is sure to be something to tickle your taste buds.
There is a wide selection of locally produced crafts, ranging from jewellery to glassware, soaps to ceramics and bags to knitwear.
To keep you entertainment throughout the day from school choirs to brass bands, fairground rides and for the little ones we also have donkey rides, so whatever you are looking for then you are sure to find it at our Food and Craft Markets.
The Markets are organised by the Brighouse Business Initiative, we are a group of mostly retailers who volunteer our time to organise events in Brighouse such as the Food and Craft Markets and the Brighouse 1940s Weekend. We also run the Brighouse Cinema, which holds regular screenings in the Civic Hall and generally telling the rest of the world what a great place Brighouse is.
